AirPods, My Uber Cabie & Wearables Growth at Apple

AirPods, My Uber Cabie & Wearables Growth at Apple

My Uber cable (photo below) wearing Rs. 12,000+ ($170+) #AirPods.

... and for last 2 years I have been postponing buying it for its cost. :-)

Our innate urge to signal status/exclusivity offers every wearable device an opportunity to get super expensive through tech and branding. What do you think will next successful wearable / brand be?

Well, that AirPod-on-cabie made me research a bit and here's what I found:

The AirPod units sold in first 3 years are more than #iPhone sold in first 3 yrs.

AirPods sold (units in million)

2017: 7.3

2018: 18.3 (150% growth)

2019: 16.1 so far (87%)

Total: 41.7

iPhone sold (units in million)

2007 : 3.7

2008 : 13.6 (267%)

2009 : 25.1 (85%)

Total: 42.4

Despite all the other problems at #Apple, #wearables has been a huge growth area. Watch is doing well. Next is AR? Needless to say that nothing will match the iPhones!
